This is a list of the current libraries, languages, and plugins I use.
I had been pushing this one off for a while. But now the time has come to learn it. We'll see if it's as simple and life changing as they claim.
I had been looking for a good developer theme to build my Wordpress sites off of for a while, and wouldn't you know, here's one that ties into me learning SASS too.
GSAP is a JavaScript animation library created by Greensock. I first became familiar with Greensock a few years back when working with Actionscript. I was glad to see how much of the coding style and syntax translated to their JavaScript library. I would definitely recommend trying it out.
Now this one I didn't get too in depth on, but I had to mention it here because I used it and loved it. It's a great plugin, especially if you want a slider that plays videos or contains html. But considering who the developers are behind it, you can only expect a great product.
I've been working on PhoneGap projects for nearly 2 years now. I have created both iOS and Android Apps. While PhoneGap itself is fairly straightforward to use, I have a few points of advice before beginning.
- Be sure of what you need to accomplish, especially as far as specialty design features and heavier programming concepts. JavaScript and mobile CSS has several nuances that may surprise you. Depending on the complexity of your app, you may want to consider going to all native code.
- Don't be fooled. Code once and publish across all is a dream. You still have to debug each platform individually.
- Be careful with requiring information from a server. Wireless networks, especially 3G, can cause a lot of timeouts, so fallbacks and retry connection buttons are important.
- There are many more little things that I could mention. Feel free to email me with questions if you are thinking of using PhoneGap.
